Clouded Leopard

A rare Asiatic cat of a grayish-buff color with black stripes and blotches is called the clouded leopard. It is known in southern and western China, the Himalayas of northern In¬dia, Burma, the Malay Peninsula, and some of the East Indian Islands. It is a large cat, with a head and body length of three to four feet and a two- to three-foot tail. It weighs about 40 pounds. It is nocturnal (active at night) and lives in dense forests or close to streams. It feeds on small deer, other smaller mammals, birds, and sometimes the natives' poultry. Nothing is known about its young.
